There is virtually NOTHING in this post with is factually correct.
The United States didn’t restore the Shah to power, and if we had we’d have nothing to be ashamed of. The Shah was returned to power easily with popular support, replacing the FOREIGN IMPOSED, western style parliament which the extremely influential mullahs never supported….
Iran’s “Democracy” was imposed on it by way of foreign invasion. See, during WWII Iran was ruled by the Shah, and the Shah hated the British. According to the British, all those annoying Iranians were sitting on THEIR (the British’s) oil. In fact, the British saw nearly the entire middle east as their’s, from north Africa clear through to India. Well the Shah saw a German victory as his freedom from the English boot, so he backed the Germans (as many, many nations who experienced British imperialism had).
Well, the British whipped up an invasion force in another of their colonies — IRAQ — while they cut a deal with Stalin. The U.K. and Soviet Union would take time out from their war with Germany and invade Iran, depose the Shah and install a government friendly to British oil….errrr…. “The Allied War Effort.” And they did so.
Okay, so AFTER the war this “Democracy” imposed on Iran decided, “hey, let’s nationalize our oil! It is ours, after all, so why should the British be raking in all the profits from our natural resource?”
The British went MENTAL.
The British drummed up all sorts of schemes — everything from a full scale invasion to a coup — but there was always two obstacles. The first was that Harry Truman was President, and Truman refused to back any of the British efforts. His policy was t work with the government of Iran, not against it.
The second obstacle was Stalin.
The British absolutely hated the Communist ever since they had executed the Russian royal family, and the Russians were more than happy to return the sentiments. Plus, the Russians viewed Iran as their back yard. They had invaded it numerous times in their history. Finally, Stalin wasn’t the least bit afraid of the British. If the British moved in Iran, it would be an invitation for Stalin to “Come to the rescue” of the victims of British imperialism. The British needed the United States to scare away Stalin, and the United States under Harry Truman was telling the Brits to go pound sand….
Within months of Harry Truman’s departure from office the British had staged a coup, returned the Shah to power and planted the “CIA-did-it” story in a number of publications, with it finally being published by the Saturday Evening Post.
See, they had to plant the “CIA-did-it” story for the benefit of the Russians.
Now here’s something that morons, traitors and British agents never tell you: It’s a crime to divulge any information about a covert CIA operation. Nobody has done so in the case of Iran. All the claims that people have “Confirmed” stories are bull, and you know this for a fact because none of the people who supposedly “Confirmed” any of this are in jail.
Disinformation is not illegal. It is not illegal for an ex CIA operative to claim that he did something when he actually never did it. But, it is illegal for him or her to divulge any details what so ever about an actual covert operation.
P.S. The Shah returned by popular demand. Iran is a scary, conservative Muslim nation today, it was vastly more conservative, more scary 60 years ago. Given a choice between a (decedent) west-style Parliament with athiestic-Soviet leanings and a conservative Shah, the Mullah did choose the Shah. He had their support. And, with their support, he had the support of the people.
