A nation with oceans of oil and… Rolling Blackouts?!?

malcontentment:

I don’t think that’s a fair assessment of the effect of sanctions.

“India imports around 70 percent of its oil needs, of which about 11 percent comes from Iran. It has been facing enormous problems over payments for the Iranian oil.

New Delhi initially channeled payments through German-based Europaisch-Iranische Handelsbank. But after the sanctions kicked in, the two countries moved to Turkey’s Turkiye Halk Bankasi AS to facilitate payments.

That channel may also become inoperable after EU intervention. In February, Iran and India reached an agreement under which India would pay for 45 percent of the oil in Indian rupees, with the rest to be settled through a barter arrangement in goods and services.

The fallout of the sanctions is beginning to be felt by Iran, its currency and its people.”

I still don’t see “Sanctions” here, let alone problems with sanctions.

Iran freely chose to no longer accept U.S. dollars as payment, and now rejects the Euro. This is something that Iran wanted, that Iran chose for itself,

We’re not seeing sanctions AGAINST Iran, we’re seeing the result of Iran’s free will, it’s own choice — write out the west. They can’t claim ignorance, but they can claim incompetence.  If this is the case they have to find leaders who are not incompetent, leaders who can reverse bad policies.

Yes, many currencies are not easily convertible. This is true, but Iran knew the score before it embarked on it’s policies.

Look. Iran freely chose a life “Off the grid,” so to speak, and that entails some changes to how they operate, just like you or I would have to alter our lifestyle in order to live “Off the grid” in a more traditional sense.

We’re not hurting Iran with sanctions, Iran is existing as it’s leaders have chosen for Iran.
