Got Apple TV
Actually, my room mate got it.
We’ve had the Roku box for years.  I want to say that it’s a first-generation box, I don’t really know, but with the speed that these things become obsolete I’m guessing that it is.  Anyhow, the point is that the old Roku box, though great, was showing some growing pains.  HULU never worked right, MLB would often freeze and even Netflix started to give us the occasional issue.  We always figured that it was a hardware problem.
I AM NOT BLAMING ROKU
It’s the freaking developer’s fault.  Worse, it’s all marketing.  Hulu has to have an admittedly “Slick” interface over the Roku, and that soaks up resources (memory, processing power) so that content delivery suffers. It’s all marketing, all about form and not function:  Packaging.  The Hulu interface is one of the worst designs imaginable. It takes WAY too many steps to get somewhere, and if you’re not paying close attention you’ll get something that you’re not looking for… like “Clips” instead of episodes.
Okay, so the first generation Roku box was showing it’s age, and since buying it my room mate got himself an iPad.  Plus, the new Roku boxes aren’t cheap.  I don’t think we could even find one for under $100 — the same price as the Apple TV.
