There’s only one way to enjoy “Walden Pond” and that’s to swim in it. And, yes, I have many times as a kid…
Actually, I have a friend whose family was written about by Thoreau. Seems their ancestor was a farmer in Lincoln Massachusetts, where Thoreau lived at the time.
On their land.
So this farmer — their ancestor — evicted him. Why? Either because of a fire Thoreau set (according to the family) or because Thoreau was a pauper and couldn’t pay rent (according to everybody else). Anyhow, Thoreau moved on over to neighboring Concord Massachusetts, overlooking a little pond there… Walden Pond.
The rest, as they say, is history…
