i mean the No God thing is fine and all and I’m willing to turn a blind eye to their ahistorical “religion ruined civilization!!!” tripe but I find their humanist narrative intolerable
I always find it somewhat enlightening — similarities to “The Enlightenment” purely intentional — but that the humanist themselves are a bunch of skanky twits.
Now I hate to quote myself (no I don’t) but this is something I banged out in 2007, after attending a “Humanist” event…
"A Celebration of the First Annual Award for Outstanding Lifetime Achievement in Cultural Humansim. Presented by: The Humanist Chaplaincy at Harvard. Sound good? Sound right up the alt.atheism alley? You wish.... Picture a line of self-important "Dignitaries" tossing around "Humanist" and "Secular" like a group of adolescent girls who only recently heard these words for the first time, and determined that the secret to coming across as mature & beautiful women is to repeat them as often as possible. Next came a great talk by Salmon Rushdie, followed by an all-too-lengthy reading. Now don't get me wrong. The man is without a doubt a very clever writer. But I have to admit that the only reason that you or I (or anyone else) knows this is because of a lucky (and well timed) Fatwa which rescued him from obscurity. All & all, I'd say that the fate of secular humanism, as a movement in this nation, is doomed...
