Why Liberals should vote for Romney (Part II)

You have to think long term.  You have to decide what you want and how you’re going to get it.  Well, if you’re a liberal you must realize that a liberal (or just plain “Democratic”) agenda is out of the question right now.  It’s not going to happen.  Romney is dedicated to serving the far right, and regardless of anything Obama is claiming he has served the far right for the last four years.

Now, how do we get a President who actually fights for us, instead of screws us over at every opportunity?

IT’S ALL ABOUT INCENTIVE

We have to give politicians the right incentive.  There’s bad or “Wrong” incentives and there’s good or “Right” incentives, and we have to give Presidents the “Right” incentive.

Now here’s the deal:  Obama has back stabbed the left (and even center) at every turn.  He’s continued Bush’s foreign policies and expanded — rather than ended — Bush’s tax cuts. As far as healthcare goes, Obama personally took the public option off the table, forced the Democrats to repeatedly compromise and in the end pushed through Mitt Romney’s plan.

Obama is so anti little-guy, so anti Democrat, so conservative that his single most liberal piece of legislation — healthcare — is something he got from a Republican.  And, not just any Republican:  Mitt Romney.

Now, the worst thing we can ever do is reward a President for back stabbing us.  Obama had a choice, he could have back stabbed the 1%, the people who crowned him back in 2008, or he could back stab the American people.  He chose to back stab the American people.  We shouldn’t reward him for that.  He should face consequences, he should be given the early retirement that he earned. If we don’t vote him out of office we are providing the WRONG incentive.  We’d be rewarding him for throwing us under the bus, telling every other politician that it’s okay, they can screw us over and they don’t have to worry about consequences. So in order to provide the right incentive we have to vote Obama out.

Oh, yeah, we do the same to Romney in four years if he serves the 1%.

The point is, if we always vote our best interests, if we always throw the bums out after a single term, eventually even the dumbest of politicians are going to figure out that they can’t get re-elected by screwing over the people.

Sure, if they back stab the power brokers, if they get into office and do the right thing instead of serving a tiny elite, they’ll lose all the money & media and won’t get re-elected anyway.  But…

But, see, there will be nothing stopping them from doing the right thing.

If a candidate thinks that they’ll only serve one term no matter what, if they have to choose between back stabbing the people or back stabbing the 1%, they can at least follow their conscience.

No matter what they do they’re not going to get elected anyway, so they might as well do what’s in their heart — do what they believe is right — and stop worrying about it.

This is our only chance.  “Toss the bums out,” starting with Obama.
